Music Video Thoughts - Animation and Live Action
When thinking about creating a music video, animation comes
to mind as it allows for more ways to make a video suited to the chosen song as
anything is possible in animation from Stop-Motion to CGI and hand-drawn
animation. Move colours, images and styles can be added to an unpredictable
situation that can therefore break the laws of physics, resulting in an
animated video more entertained to watch. Not only can animation be made but
can also be combined with live action, mixing both the world of imagination and
reality together. An example of this is with the video to “Take on Me” by A-Ha!
This video won six awards in 1986 as the lets the love story of a woman falling
into a comic book styled world, after a hand reaches out of a page and takes
the woman’s hand. Although the video is older than the videos created with CGI
today, this video made a huge impact and still does to this day.
